"Our primary purpose was to set up a system under which the curse of idleness would be done away with... and independence, industry, thrift, and self-respect be once more established amongst our people." (President Grant, October 1936 General Conference) This quote is in regards to the Church's Welfare System, which was set up in 1936, but still applies to us today. My favorite word in that quote is THRIFT; we should be a thrifty, or provident, people.

Free BYU Courses!
This is a link for free online courses at BYU. There are a lot to choose from and you do not have to be enrolled at BYU to take them. http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/free.cfm
Welcome!
I hope that by using this blog as a resource, we can all work together in becoming provident professionals! So what does it mean to be provident? One internet definition I found had two meanings, which were: 1. carefully preparing for future needs, 2. frugal or economical in the use of resources. To me, we can be provident in many areas, such as, budgeting, decorating, food preparation and storage, shopping, and even cleaning. Please feel free to post any good grocery deals, websites, or recipes using food storage. You can also post anything you feel may relate to or help others with living more providently.
