(President Grant, October 1936 General Conference) This quote is in regards to the Church's Welfare System, which was set up in 1936, but still applies to us today. My favorite word in that quote is THRIFT; we should be a thrifty, or provident, people.

This was an email I received from Linda Richards...
" I was interested in the one on vinegar uses. I use vinegar often when I clean and always keep vinegar in a spray bottle under my sink. There is one use for vinegar that I did not see--and it is one that has saved me a lot of $$. I like cheese but since I'm alone, I often have a problem with using it up before it starts to go moldy. (This is block cheese, not the already- shredded kind.) I read this hint about keeping cheese in the Heloise column in the newspaper and it works great for me. You take a sheet of paper towel and spray it with undiluted vinegar until it's thoroughly damp, but not dripping. Wrap the block cheese completely in the damp paper towel and then put it in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. The vinegar eliminates mold from growing on the cheese, but doesn't affect the flavor. Surprisingly, you really can't taste it. I've stored my cheese this way for several years now, and have not lost any to mold, and I've thrown away a lot of cheese previously because of mold growth."
